As some of you may recall from other posts I have made in the section, I am new to using Lightroom. To my surprise, I am developing an interest in Photoshop as well. I have two Lightroom books that I am happy with. Do you have any recommendations for a good book that I can learn to teach myself at least a rudimentary level of using Photoshop?
Thanks!
Scott Kelby's books on Photoshop and Lightroom are thought by many to be the definitive resource books for learning those products.
Photoshop for Dummies is one. Another is Rockynook Photoshop by Laskevitch. Both are handy for getting you around the complex program. I have been using photoshop for almost 20 years and have attended a conference for Photoshop users (1 day learning experience). I still find new things to learn about this powerful program. Have fun but remember, Rome wasn't built in a day!

Honestly, I get more from Youtube than any book. You can go with them, step by step, pause, rewind. Almost easier than having it in print. I like Kelbyone (same Scott Kelby from the books) and my favorite by far is Phlearn. Lots and lots of free tutorials, but they also have a subscription service so you can get some SUPER detailed instruction on high end retouching.
I will second Kelbyone you can try it free for 30days and he does a great job both in PS and LR. better then any book I own.

if you have a kindle, or have it installed on a tablet, in the search box type free kindle books photoshop . then 8 or 9 books come up, they are not the best but all will get you started. to learn photography type free kindle books photography , Ive downloaded 100's of these free books.
Somebody's already mentioned Phlearn.com - I cannot recommend it highly enough, Aaron Nace and his team are absolutely brilliant!
I second recommending Scott Kelby's books as well as going to Youtube to learn a specific task. i was self taught with internet tutorials and Kelby's books the first 5 yrs of my digital as I was living in a small fishing village in MX now 12 yrs later I still appreciate the quality of them.

I downloaded a sample of his Photoshop book, but I'm a bit leary. The book has 12 chapters, and 6 are on ACR. I start in LR, so I don't think I need to change to ACR and that makes me wonder if this will be the book I want. I guess if the Photoshop chapters are excellent...

Pick any one video by Phlearn, and see if that isn't what you had in mind. His goofy style is either something you enjoy, or can't stand. Either way, I don't know anyone who goes into as much detail on what does what, and why.

I am definitely going to do that. Thank you.
