Irony

Once in a while we just have to stand back in awe of government.

The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture,
is proud to be distributing the greatest amount of free Meals and Food Stamps ever –
46 million people now receive Food Stamps.

Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior,
asks us "Please Do Not Feed the Animals."
Their stated reason for the policy is because "The animals will grow dependent on
handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves."

Thus ends today's lesson in irony.

Sounds as if the Government likes the dependancy. People are relying on them for survival.

Michael Crichton wrote a book several years ago called State of Fear which lays out an excellent hypothesis on how governments do this, and why.

I agree with "animals can't vote". Give them that right and you won't have to feed them. The government will.

What amazes me is that when the requirement to work to receive food stamps was reinstated in Alabama the food stamp roles dropped 85% in 13 counties. I personally think that is should be mandatory to receive food stamps for anyone who is able bodied to work or at least be prepared to work if the state has a job for you.

They love it; it's a way of buying your vote and entrapping you in their enprisoned clutches and controlling every aspect of your life. A prison without bars.

And therein lies the problem with our government.

Amen Brother! While I agree that some people do truly need the food stamps, why not ramp up the investigation of the people abusing the program.

There are people who really need this assistance . But when you look at the statistics in Alabama , what happened there after work was required , we should ask ourselves in every State what is this abuse of a good intentioned program costing us ? All you hear is that there is no money to do this or that . And perhaps it's true . How can you run a country while the Welfare State explodes ? This all has to do with the ideology of the Left . They moved us from a meritocracy to soft Marxism . This ensures a powerful central government while crippling people who become dependent on them . Handouts in exchange for votes , one of the oldest tricks in the book .
And we the hard working taxpayers are paying for this charade . We need to speak up , the bums speak up and they get steak on their table .

Over half of food stamp recipients are children or elderly. How ironic is that?

There is no question that there are a lot of people on food stamps that are in real need of them and I wouldn't keep the help away from them at all but what about the other half? There are to many single mothers out there today that are forced on welfare because there is no help from the fathers. In many cases these men have more than one child by different women and are not assisting at all. These guys should be forced to pay child support from the start or go to jail. Believe me there is no racial barrier here it is happening in all levels of society and needs to be corrected.
