Photographer took 6 years and 720,000 photos to capture this award-winning photo of a bird
What a great series of photos. Thanks for sharing.
Was it the last photo he took of those birds?
For me photos like these would take 6 birds and 720,000 years...

I get tired and bored sitting for 5 minutes in one place. I guess I'll never get a photo like that. ( but I keep trying)
I'm impressed. First, I've tried to capture an image of a Kingfisher. Not easy. Second, I could never stay somewhere for 6 years! Wonder how many shutter mechanisms he wore out?
He took that picture in October(?) of 2015, it was on the news wires in Nov of that year.
It has been around the circuit here on UHH a few times. New people keep discovering it and it still hasn't lost the WOW factor.
I've tried to take and get pictures of a Belted Kingfisher doing exactly this and have not had any luck yet. I've probably taken about 1000 pictures of them diving or coming up out of the water. No bueno. Very tough to get. They are shy birds so it's really hard to get close enough.
Those are some amazing shots. Thanks for the post.
