Well, bad $$$ news from all around...

Received three letters today from folks wanting $$$ from me... All past due.

An Hospital bill for over 8k. Spoke to my Insurance*. They will pay it. Somehow the bill was filled with the proper number... Weird.

A store card wants 350. My bank changed some aspect of my investment account and does not allow payment out... 3 months late. Rectified the settings. Paid.

Car repair bill of 1.2k. This was already paid, double billing. Resolved the issue.

Nothing serious but I hate dealing with this crap (there is no other name for it) when I thought everything was under control while I was gone...

Anyway, let it be a learning experience and a warning to long term travelers. I could only have solved the store card but I did not pay attention, I was not using it!!!

* Now I understand a bit more about the system and... That could be an attic thread!!!

Rong..., as Jenny stated, Welcome home.

Just a bit of additional advice. Since these were all "past due", once you do get the issues straightened out, check with the credit agencies to make sure mistakes on the part of the billing organizations don't reflect badly on your credit rating.

Many years ago I financed a new car through a now defunct bank. Payments were always sent in on time. One month I received a notice that the June payment was almost a month late. Went to the bank where we had our checking account (bank is also long defunct), put a stop payment on the original check ($25.00) and wrote out a new one to include the late payment fee. So far so good. A couple of months later the finance company sent me a letter stating they found my original check as it had been delivered to the wrong desk. Not only did they find it, but they cashed it also. Back to my bank to get my stop payment fee refunded, no dice. Change banks that day. Went to the finance company to have my late fee refunded, no dice. Took out a loan with a credit union and paid the vehicle off. In short, it took me several years to get that ding off my credit report.
