MAC Sierra and Picasa

I am using a desktop MAC and Sierra. Yesterday I went to use Picasa after a long hiatus. I tried to send the JPEG photo using the e-mail feature at the bottom of the Picasa screen to my self as a test. I did receive an e-mail indicating that a photo was sent to me but there was no photo. I tried this several times with the same results. Since Picasa is an older program I was wondering if there is a compatibility issue with Safari and Picasa. Any thoughts or suggestions as to how I can send a photo using Picasa. Thanks in advance for any forthcoming help or suggestions.

Safari wouldn't have anything to do with it; that's a browser. I heard something recently about Google no longer offering or supporting Picasa. I'm sure there are others who know the story better than I.

Thanks Kissel, however I indicated I am using Sierra, which is the MAC operating system. You are correct about Safari being a browser but this was not my question. I appreciate your interest in my question.

Don't know if this helps, but here goes I'm using sierra on a MacBook pro and I send edited photos all the time. I usually send them from my gmail account. I also have yahoo but large uploads bog down same computer same provider gmail works for me.

I think the issue is Sierra-Picasa compatibility. Sierra is the latest incarnation of Mac OS X and many older programs have had to be revised, etc. to be compatible. Since Picasa is an old program since discontinued some time ago, there is a big chance it has NOT been upgraded to be compatible. This has nothing to do with Safari as that is the Mac web browser.

I am using a desktop, a 5k iMac running Sierra 10.12.5 - I can launch Picasa fine and import images - they also email fine from Picasa thru Apple Mail for me.

If I elect to email thru Gmail, then of course Picasa launches a mini web browser, to connect to gmail and send the image. This also works fine.

My apologies for mixing both Sierra and Safari in the same question, my bad. Thanks for the responses. I will try and find some solution for my needs.

I really did mean Sierra!

Supported isn't the same as doesn't work, although if there are problems they are highly unlikely to get fixed.

https://sites.google.com/site/picasaresources/Home/Picasa-FAQ/picasa/general-information/0-picasa-retirement

https://sites.google.com/site/picasaresources/

It is mentioned here as a compatible App on Sierra
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/macos-sierra-10-12-compatible-apps.1977335/page-21

The two forums linked maybe better than here for getting help with picasa and sierra. It seems odd that the email was sent but the attatchment didn't go. If the email didn't arrive at all then it could be a gmail thing, by default gmail doesn't let you send mail outside of gmail. They don't want their servers used for sending spam. There are settings in gmail which can be set.

Hi.
If you have already had Picasa on your system, most of the programme will continue to work. However, Google has discontinued Picasa and no longer supports it. I understand that you can no longer install Picasa although I believe that it might be found on the internet somewhere. Pity to see it go. Although limited editing was available, it was ideal for those happy with what it had to offer as it was simple and straightforward........Philphotog, Perth. UK
