I recently acquired this lens at a really good price, however one piece that is missing is the lens hood. According to the box it uses a Tokina MH-112 lens hood. FWIW, it look like any hood that is 112mm will work.

I tried looking online for such an item, nor does the Tokina website list it as available anymore. Do any of you know where I can acquire one?

Thanks,
Ed

I have seen 300 2.8 hoods for the older Sigmas from time to time on ebay - otherwise, go to Lowes or Home Depot plumbing dept.and get a 4 inch pipe rubber union fitting. This union is made to use with stainless hose clamps at either end. Anyway, being rubber it it pliable enough to slip over the end of the lens - at least it did for me on an older Sigma 300 2.8. The inside diameter of the union is 114mm.

If you find Canon or Nikon ones - very expensive !

Here is what one looks like:

I suppose it might need to be shortened to prevent vignetting?

That's it .......The original Tokina is even longer ! - It is just a matter of how far you want to slip it over the end ....as to how far it protrudes from the end of the lens ......IMO, vignetting not a problem especially for a crop frame body.

You might want to coat the inside with flat paint or some kind of non-reflective surface material.

Mine fit tight enough without needing a clamp.

Go to Amazon and do a search for lens hoods with the filter thread size of your lens.
I got a 72mm all metal hood for one of my lenses for under $10.

112mm is not a very popular size.

When not even ebay has it, I think you're out of luck.

Why not call manufacture customer service directly and get the real answer. many times they have items that will not show up on web site.
