Scary Skies

On a recent tour of Namibia, we departed Windhoek in a small plane under threatening skies en route to Sossusvlei (famous for towering red sand dunes). Fortunately, this storm was heading north as we were heading south. In picture 3, it appears a water spout is forming just off our runway. We had skilled pilots and despite conditions, we had a rather smooth flight.

Rickyb, for this Namibia trip we were allowed 44lbs for checked-luggage and 15lbs for carry-on. I took my D500 w/18-200 lens out of my back-pack and carried them on so the back-pack was within limit. I also had my 80-400 lens in my backpack with other essentials.

Super photos, but that's not a sky I would want to see when taking off in a plane.
