Setting up a photo album website

Over the weekend I attended my 50th high school reunion, and took somewhere around 100 pictures.

I'd like to set them up on somewhere for classmates to view/download, but would prefer not to use a public server like dropbox. I do have my own domain and have set up web servers and Wordpress sites, and I know how to set up a page behind a login/password.

Ideally what I'd like to set up is a way for someone to view the photos as small (thumbnail) photos, with a way to download either low (say, 400x600) or high (4000x6000) resolution images.

Suggestions for the easiest/fastest way to do this?

A second question: What's the fastest way to add a watermark to a large number of images?

I'm not sure how deep you may want to get, but I use Coppermine photo gallery.
(I've been programming for 45 years, so I like to do my own HTML.)
It has to be downloaded, unzipped, and the files transferred up to your server in your "gallery" directory.
You can bulk upload images to an album; have an album require a password; have logins require a password; move images from album to album; set search keywords;... You can also customize the header and footer. It pretty neat as there is a lot it can do. It's written in PHP and they recommend an Apache server.
You can read about it at http://coppermine-gallery.net/
You can see what my gallery looks like at my website (see my profile).

I use Google Photos when I want to post photos for a group to view or download. Putting a watermark on them would not be appreciated by the viewers.

With Google Photos, you upload the pictures, put them into an album, and send people a link to the album.

You might also try OneDrive. That's what I use for the same purpose. I have my larger photo gallery on Pbase.

I use Shutterfly and have 5 sites for sharing images. It's easy, friendly and can be configured in a variety of ways to protect images, allow or not allow downloads, copy, ...
Here's one of my sites: https://sportimagesbymarkweiss.shutterfly.com/pictures
In the past, I also used SmugMug.

When you export them from LR the dialog box allows you to add the watermark. It also has an edit button so you can customize the mark.

I use Flickr and I'm a computer dummy so it must be easy to set up a free account and then either post publicly or designate who can see your photo stream.

If you don't have PS, Try Fastone Image Resizer for adding a watermark. The watermark will need to be a .png file or similar which allows a transparent background.

I start with LR for sorting, some development of RAW images, then export as JPEG. Next step is Picasa to create albums which are uploaded to Google Photos. I send the links to the albums to intended recipients, hence this is private, not public.

There are several services that would be perfect. I had been using Enviro Wordpress add-in, but am gradually moving to using Smugmug. It gives all the capability and more and easy to integrate with Wordpress.

Check out 500px.com. Just about all graphics and photo applications have a way to add a watermark. >Alan

Mike...for getting photos out to family and friends I use several sources which seem to work well enough. the one I like the best is SmugMug. I also use Dropbox and Instagram to a limited extent. The SmugMug address is http://www.gsphotolandscapes.com so you can evaluate for yourself. Best of luck. George
