Lightroom 3 issue

I'm trying to export ONE image to a folder for emailing and LR3 keeps trying to export ALL of the images in that folder. Granted, I'd previously selected all of the images in that folder in order to convert from the Adobe profile to the Portrait profile. But it seems that anytime I do that I have a heck of time selecting only ONE image for import later. Is there a secret I'm missing. Please advise. Maybe there's a glitch in my LR program or maybe I'm just dense! lol Thanks in advance for your help.

I've never run into this, but you could always flag the one you want (or set a color or rate with starts), then set the filter to the color or stars. Turn off the filter when you're done exporting.

Thanks, snowbear. That didn't work but I accidentally figured it out when trying your idea. I just had to click in the empty grey part below the images. Thanks for your idea.

I've got Lightroom 3 and hate using it so I use Bridge out of Photoshop CS5. One weird thing about LightRoom is that to select an image you have to click on the image itself. You can't click on the border around it that will light up like it has been selected. For some reason it hasn't! Why they did it this way is beyond me, but it caused me fits for a while!

It is easier for me to select an image in Bridge and then right click and chose from the menu to copy to or move to, etc.

Just my thoughts and experience.

Thanks, Fred, but I don't have CS5. I have Elements 9. Appreciate your thoughts though.

When I started with LR I wanted to delete one image from the disc.
I did a 'Select > Delete > Confirm Delete' and screamed in horror as every photo vanished - luckily into the recycle bin. Easy job to put things back.

There are three states of selection - White border, light grey border and dark grey which indicates not selected.

If there are no dark grey (unselected) pics in the thumbnails being viewed, it is easy to think there is only one item selected and this is where mistakes happen.

The safest way to select just one image is to deselect all images, then select just the one you want to action.

So when you have a folder of images on the screen, Control + D to deselect all, then select the one image you want to work with.

I use this even when in the develop mode because there can still be images in the "secondary" state of selection.

I do hope this makes sense and solves the problem.

in LR, along the lower left hand it will always tell you how many photos are "selected" for whatever you are about to do........
