With the fabulous weather on hand while I'm visiting, I had to get out, walk around and force myself to take some pix. I haven't really gone through the shoot, but some random shots just stood out. The juxtaposition and colors of "The Manes" I found humorous. The public library truly is! Take a book. Return it whenever. Nice! And what in the world is a giant inner tube doing mounted outside the Central Library?
Enjoyable, humorous and thought provoking! A well done series!

Nice photos. Especially like your red and white manes picture.
I thought it was a donut on the building.

Thanks, Ed. It does look kind of like a donut, doesn't it? In person, it looks like rubber, which is why I thought of an inner tube.
I found out that it's actually the second part of a two-part sculpture, titled, "thinmanlittlebird." It's the "littlebird" portion. Here is the description given:
"From David Hoppe's April 2009 Nuvo article: 'A $750,000, privately-funded project, the work actually consists of two, discrete, yet related pieces cast in bronze and reinforced with stainless steel. "thinman" is an almost 40-foot, free-standing figure of sinuous lines bolted to the library's western pedestal and rising up, beyond the library roof line. To the east is "littlebird," a torus, or geometric form, that describes a circle rotating on a vertical axis with a life-size sparrow-like bird perched on its outer edge. Shelton has mounted "littlebird" on the library wall, above the pedestal, and canted it outward, so that it appears to float in space. Both sculptures are waxed, giving them a rich, deep ebony patina.' "
All are very good shots, Fred! The last one looks like a chocolate donut to me! Mmmmmmmm!

Thanks, sailorsmom! I agree with you: the more I look at it, the more it looks like a chocolate donut.
To me, the winner of the group is the "Two Manes" shot. A friend of mine suggested I title it "Mane Street!"
