thanks, all. Buddy was my buddy for 18 years. he was a 28 pound Maine Coon, and was the smartest cat I have ever been owned by.
hated to give him up, but it was best for him.
(hope someone makes that decision for me if it ever comes to that)

My wife and I have been down this road 10 times as we now have 9 cremation boxes sitting on a living room shelf (our 1st cat is buried in the back yard). We have 2 adult female cats remaining. When they are gone, that's it. We are getting along in years and we don't want to take on any new younger cats because we do not want to leave 2 stranded cats when we are gone. We are sorry for the loss of Buddy. It is not fun losing a loving pet. ~FiddleMaker

I started to pass this post up because I'm still very sensitive about losing my Calico, Matilda, Sunday night. The pain of the loss is really bad in the early stages.
I find that it helps to stay as busy as possible. I had her for 18 years. So sorry for your loss of your beautiful Buddy.
