This spring I purchased a Nikon 7200 camera outfit from Costco Inc.

After reading many articles from Ugly Hedgehog I purchased my first prime lens from B & H Photo. Yesterday when I attached to the lens and took my first shot, a RGB Highlights started to flash in the bottom left hand corner of the screen When I looked at the picture the light areas where flashing black. This happened right after I purchased the camera when I had on the smaller of the two lens that came with the camera. I looked in the instruction book and it said to press both the ISO BUTTON on the back of the camera and the +/- button on the top of the camera. It fixed the problem and I hadn't had it happen again until yesterday when I tried my Nikon DX AF-S 35mm 1:1.8G. Pushing both buttons this time doesn't correct the problem. Does anyone know what I did wrong and how do I now correct the problem. When I downloaded the disk to my computer I was able to copy and edit the pictures. Just curious and Thanks. I look forward each day to reading the columns and questions and answers as I have learned a lot.

There is nothing wrong. When viewing you have selected, maybe inadvertently, to have the camera point out areas that are possibly overexposed. Press the top of the multi-selector to choose a different view.

You didn't do anything wrong and it's not a problem. Those are "blinkies". That's just a slang name for highlight warning. It's showing areas that have become overexposed and have lost detail. It's good to have them on. I leave that turned on with all of my cameras.

Press up/down on the selector switch to go through the different information screens.

Take a look at your User Manual. Go to the index and look for "Playback". Read through those pages and I think you will have your answer.

We have all been where you are. Just paying it forward, or back - one of those! I have a D7200 and love it!

now this is the real answer. Nothing wrong with camera lens or you.

Been there and done that. The inadvertent comment is probably the best answer. When it happens it seems that no matter which button you advance or return doesn't help.

You are fine and the equipment is too.

keep shooting and enjoy what you have and what you capture.
