Filming TTL with DSLR, instead of the back screen.

I don't know of any DSLRs that will video while looking thru the lens, as opposed to using the back screen. The obvious answer is to use a video loupe device. Can anyone advise me on a good one for my D610? Also, which bridge cameras have eye level viewing for video? Many thanks in advance, guys&dolls!! Liverpool UK

You CANNOT do video with a DSLR through the viewfinder for obvious reasons. The mirror has to be UP to expose the sensor to the image, and with the mirror up, the viewfinder goes black. Simple.

Many movie cameras are of reflex design. They do have a beam splitter to split the image formed by the lens to expose the film and to the viewfinder. So it's possible but none is made for the DSLR.

So what does that have to do with the OPs question? Nothing.

I was going to tell the OP that by being an SLR it's impossible to shoot video and viewing thru viewfinder at the same time. But then I realized that it's possible just that none was made.

The Sony RX10iii can shoot video while using the viewfinder. This was also true of their HX100V that I used to have.

I would guess that any Bridge Camera with an electronic viewfinder that shoots video would fall into this category.

Thanks a million lads & lassies. Just what I needed to know. Rather than spend on a video loupe for my d610, I might as well buy a Lumix bridge, to use most of the time for movies!!! The Lumix is compact enough to hide in my car permanently and when I am out and about, I might see a Range Rover, smashed thru a shop window. LOL

A hood loupe, or much better, an accessory screen (they come in all sizes), you could also tether to a laptop!
