Went to a wonderful place in Raleigh yesterday called Water and Garden Creations with my old photo club group. This place is really great for lily and lotus blossoms as well as dragonflies, green frogs and anoles. Here are a couple of my favorite dragonfly shots from this most enjoyable shoot. Recommend going to the downloads for best viewing of the detail in these images.

I normally use a Tamron 180mm true macro lens on a Canon 5DM3 body with twin diffused flash heads (MT-24EX flash). These exposures were shot at f8 1/200sec ISO 400. The flash is set in manual mode and I adjust the heads to be 1 stop apart. Actual power settings depend on ambient light. I shot these hand held as well. Hope this helps.

Nice - no, not nice - fantastic captures of these beautiful insects, randave Dragonflies are not easy to photograph as they flit around. It's a wonder one can get a sharp focus.
