Does anyone have a Panasonic LUMIX GX 8 and if you do, do you like the Camera? I've been eyeing it on the Reviews and getting ready to buy a backup Camera and like the size and the high marks people are giving it! I noticed it doesn't have a built in Flash, can I get a good Flash for it that works great?

Hi - I just bought one myself, and I LOVE IT. The 4K photo is so fun! And the camera is VERY fun to use and hold. I did buy a flash - but I never need it, it does very well in low light.
Now - there was a learning curve because I'm used to Canon DSLR... and I made a huge mistake and bought a crappy lens to start. I would not buy that 14-140 - the photo quality was horrible. So I sold it and bought a 35-100 2.8 and bought a learning video about Lumix (Michael the Maven Lumix Crash Course) now my photos are getting much better. I have since purchased the 100-300 for sporting events and it has been fantastic.
The photo quality is not as good as my Canon DSLR,(7D MII) but its about 90% - and the camera is so light and fun to use that I will keep it. I love the 4K photo for sports, puppies, etc....
I'll post some pictures I took with 4K photo

So the first 2 pictures were taken with the 4K photo so I could get the timing just right - as you can see the timing is awesome but they are not as perfect and crisp as if they had been taken with a DSLR - but I might have missed the perfect shot.
I included the puppy so you can see that it can get great detail - but you will need a good lens.
Hope this helps - good luck on your camera search

Oh - one more thing - I bought the silver version and it is very cool looking !!

I like it for a number of reasons, but mostly because the in body stabilization works incrementally with in-lens stabilization.

I took it to the Galapagos with the Panasonic-Leica 100-400 zoom and hand held every shot. Admittedly the light was excellent, but virtually every shot (and there were hundreds) was sharp!

Plus it looks cool.

That looks like a great camera. I have a smaller LF1 and the pictures it produces are great.
The GX8 is very tempting; I only wish it was a full frame sensor. It would be a great substitute
for when I don't want to lug around a large SLR.

The thing you'll learn about m4/3 is to use fast glass and shoot wide or fairly wide open...doing that, for the most part negates the use of a flash. If you want a flash, I'd recommend either the Olympus fl-600 or Panasonic fl-360

How big could I blow up a picture with the M 4/3 sensor of this Camera to still retain high IQ ?

I use the Bolt VC-3100P as a Flash. It's reasonably priced and meets my needs.

You can blow MFT files up to a degree that you will likely never need or want to exceed.

PM me if you want to see some of my Galapagos photos.

Let's see here... I just ordered a 24x36 metal print and 5 16x20 framed canvas wraps...so I know you can easily print that large. With today's software it's easy to print large and retain high IQ.

I JUST bought one and have enjoyed it. There IS a learning curve, me coming from a Nikon DSLR. I use it with the 100-300 (Vario) and use it for sports and birding. I had originally purchased the SONY RX 10iii and sent it back -- the Lumix is MUCH better. It is harder to learn, and I'm still learning, but am getting it. It crops just fine. (I'd post an image, but don't know how on this forum -- someone feel free to inform me!)

You might be stretching it a bit with these sizes. By my calculations, if you want a HR print
(generally considered 300dpi) you would check the dimensions of the digital file and divide
by 300. To make a 24x36 inch print you would need a 7200x10,800 sized image. I think
a 7200 pixel by 10,800 pixel image would require a sensor of about 78MP.
The 16x20 prints are closer to the 20MP the Lumix can deliver but would ideally require a
28MP sensor.
Of course there are other factors that contribute to IQ and you might be very happy with
the results you get.

The 24x36 is outstanding...it's not just me, but the other 2 designers that were in the office agree (it was shipped today to my office)...combined we have 54 years worth of graphic experience, so it's not our first rodeo when evaluating prints. These sensors are capable with today's software and digital printing of producing high quality images. Would it have looked better with a D810...perhaps, but it's doubtful that would would have hiked with DLSR gear in the first place.

AT LEAST 15x20 Inches. That is for lab standard quality.

I have printed some scenes from my GH4 (similar sensor) at 40x30. They look great at 50" - 75" (normal 1 - 1.5 times the diagonal dimension).
