Is that LG a better display than the ones that infest hotel rooms?

You don't need a lot of processing power for photographs. If you mentioned 4k video I would recommend the best config. you can afford. It seems you would be doing just fine with what you have. Your use of the computer doesn't seem to require a real powerhouse. Maybe save the $ for some better lenses?

I am replying on my 2013 (or so) MBP, 13", I5, 8GB, 256GB SSD. I am pretty much in love with this machine, except for massive amounts of PP. I use this to tether my cameras and to work while in the field. My main pp work, is done on an iMac 27" 5k Retina with 1TB Hybrid drive and 32GB of memory, also an I5, but I would have preferred an I7. The iMac is my goto pp machine. Photos are stored on an attached 4GB Western Digital (WD) Thunderbolt drive with a 2nd copy made during import to a Synology NAS device. ALL my external storage is configured in RAID 1, and I take copies off site regularly. I much prefer the larger screens for pp work, and I prefer a lighter machine for travel. I did have an 11" MacBook AIR, but I found it both too slow and too small for comfortable use. Best of luck.

No idea. It's an ips ultra wide...doubtful that hotels put those in. It still requires a good calibrator like a spyder pro.

Until you need batch process a bunch of raw photos. The great thing about LR and multi core processors is that instead of exporting out all your files at one with one batch (only using one core), split it up into 3 or 4 batches and then process using more cores.

I have extended the life of several Macs by installing upgrades (RAM, SSD) from OWC (Other World Computing). Top notch equipment. Excellent video instructions on performing the needed surgery. https://eshop.macsales.com/upgrades/

I was just kidding. Most hotels have rotten TVs, and a lot of them are LG. Hotels don't own those TVs, BTW - they lease them.

i have a 13 inch macbook pro with touch bar and upgraded memory.
It is incredibly slow. Slower than my 7 year old pc running windows 7.
It works fine for everything - but is very slow. I have had it to Apple more than 5 times to have it checked and they tell me its normal.

Thats not normal, maybe find a benchmark to test it out. It could be that there is a malfunctioning sensor causing the slow down.

I have had to leave my laptop with the Apple store for 24 hours so they could run a full set of diagnostics on it. They gave me a report several pages long that said everything was normal. So not sure there is anything else I can do.

I have upgraded my 2010 MacBook Pro to 16 GB and it's speedy and is perfect for travel. I have a great case for it.....real leather, and very protective, and the case came with a strong, wide shoulder strap.

Could it be your internet server? Also, my computer slows down if I don't run the BitDefender OneClick Optimizer on a weekly basis along with my weekly system scan. When I had McAfee my PC was amazingly slow and would freeze up on me. It could be a matter of computer maintenance and not the computer. You know those companies that want to charge big bucks to clean up your computer? All they do is simple system cleans and some times take a peak at your private stuff. I never let anybody take over my computer anymore.
