Highlights:

* "Printers" are Ricoh's biggest source of revenue, and most of the company's financial issues are centered there

* market share is not a goal of the company {which means, I think, that profit is much more important than is market share}

* most cuts will occur in sales & service

* nothing is said about Pentax, Theta, or other photo lines

NOTE: this is rumor

I was considering the excellent Pentax K-1 awhile back, but I checked a couple of Pentak user forums and found an alarming sense of pessimism amongst users about the survivability of the brand. Pity, because everybody loved the camera.

I've been taking a vacation from Pentax forums because many of them seem to be oblivious to the rest of the world.

I'm guessing they don't understand how their "Pentax is doooooommmed" banter affects the brand they claim to cherish.

I have a Pentax K-30 and a Q-7. I already have everything I need for them; if the Pentax brand were to go away, those cameras would continue to function as they are, and when they died, I would have to decide what to do next.

But that is not an issue right now. Like Nikon, Ricoh is taking steps to "right the ship", which may not even affect the camera end of things, because right now the issues are elsewhere.
