Go into Debt to Buy Gear?

Credit cards were designed specifically to get people into debt and keep paying monthly interest. If you rely on CCs, you probably accept the interest as part of the price of whatever you buy. I suggest getting CCs that pay rebates. I've collected over $4,200 in rebates on my various cards.

We regularly use our credit cards for pretty much everything, pay in full EVERY month, and reap the rewards of 1st Class and Business Class flights for a very reasonable service fee. Have gone round trip to Alaska this way and next year will be going to Africa, and from Africa to Scotland, and then home using points. It does take discipline to keep track of charges and to pay in full every month on each card used. Fortunately we are very disciplined.

Good for you! I log on to all my sites every day, just to make sure there are no surprises. The banks must hate people who maintain balances.

May I ask, what credit card do you utilize for points? I also pay my cc bill balances on time with no interest.

I have a Sams's Club card that pays 5% back on gasoline and 1% or more on everything else. Chase, through Amazon, pays 5% on all Amazon purchase - or maybe it's 3%. My Chase cards give 5% on different things every quarter. Lowe's gives 5% back, as does Target.

I use credit cards as often as I can (I just need to wipe the tire marks off of them!)

I have my CC's frozen in a coffee can of water in the freezer. When I want something bad enough, I take the can out of the freezer and sit in my recliner waiting for it to thaw.

Frugal Tactic!!!

Hey it's only $50/month for 50 years. What is the big deal?

I paid one month of interest in the last how many ? years on all of my CCs (two). And I was pissed off about that. Called them and told them told them the story, pointed out my record, they removed the charge.
