Seasoned Vet...
Hello, I'm Dan. In oculis animus habitat. Love that phrase.
In 1974 my father gave me a 1957 Ricoh '35' S he had purchased while he was in the Navy serving in the South Pacific - and a roll of Tri-x film. I haven't stopped taking pictures since. I took photography classes in high school and contributed to our yearbooks - my first 'published' photographs. I went on to become a military photographer (Army) and studied Art/Photography at Virginia Commonwealth University. After my tour of duty I worked for a studio that was one of the 'official' photographers of the Green Bay Packers. I am currently a freelance photogrpher, shooting for the sheer joy of the creative process. Occasionally I get to attend a local class and speak to graduating HS students that are interested in pursuing photography as a career. My interests include sports, of course, portraits, animals and wildlife, landscape photography and my grandsons. I still have that Ricoh 35...it is displayed in my collection of vintage cameras. I won a couple of awards with it and it still takes amazing photos!
In closing, a few words to live by - Dr. Suess said it best: 'Be who you are and say what you feel, because those that mind don't matter, and those that matter, don't mind.'
Looking forward to your post. Nice to meet you.
Wise words. I live near you in Waukesha, WI. Moved here about a year ago. Used to live around here back in the 1980's.
Welcome! Looking forward to your posts and pictures. Happy shooting!
