My lens cap developed a problem on my recent trip. It won't stay on. It looks like a 52mm. Does anyone know if any 52mm cap will fit? I need one in a hurry and don't have time to order one so thought I'd try Walmart today. I don't see any way of actually fixing the ailing lens cap. Any ideas, anyone?

Previously owned one - I believe the filter and lens cap diameter is 67mm per Canon literature. /Ralph

This is correct as long as you have an adapter with a filter. If you do not have a filter, 67mm is too large. I am unable to locate the correct size if you do not have an adapter with a filter.

Just thought of something. If you still have the broken lens cap, look on the back/inside of it. There should be a number there. That is the size.

Mr Google seems to indicate that the original SX-50 caps are not very strong and also non-standard. The 52mm ones are described as too tight or too big, I might try a 49mm and a 52 and see what you can do with a little tape or a file given your short time frame, or just a clean bag to drop the camera in...

I've just tried a 49mm lenscap on a 52mm thread Nikkor lens and it sort of worked, a little loose but a twist helped...

Thought I could offer some useful info, but between ebay and Amazon, I have no idea what the correct size really is. Sorry.

Good luck.

I've looked with a magnifier and don't see any numbers at all. All it says is Canon Inc. and "made in China." Thanks!

Hummm. The replacement ones seem to be 52mm. Not sure if Walmart will allow me to tape a cap on, then return it! I wish I had a 52MM something to try, but I don't. Thanks!

Aaargghhh! At least we tried. I looked all over the front of my SX50, as well as checked my manuals and online for specs - NADA. I feel your frustration.

THANKS! I couldn't find anything. Thanks for verifying I'm not blind.

And lens caps cost how much at Walmart? Perhaps you can try it in the store if the cost is a major concern.
