This set of photographs is just of my backyard garden, except for the moccasins. They were made for my aunt by Indians around Libby, Montana more than 100 years ago. The moccasins appear to be well used, but still in relatively good condition, except for some missing bead work. A Nikon P100 was used for all of the shots.

Gary, nice captures on your backyard critters and flowers and I love the still life composition of the old moccasins!!

Backyard stiff always makes for fun subjects, but I needed a still life for a local competition, so I tried about everything to get something I liked. Nothing worked, so my wife and I took a little drive up the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River and found a perfectly simple setting. Rule #1 for me is to "keep it simple". Rule #2, be aware of the background. Rule #3, make sure the subject is in focus.

Your rules are spot on and made for a wonderful and interesting still life... as far as garden shots go, I can't get enough of them!! I go out all times of the day and shoot anything and everything!!

Hay Angela, Carol should be credited for pushing me into posting some of this stuff that I never thought was good enough for UHH. With my basic photography rules, what could possibly go wrong.

Thank you for your kind comments. I enjoy close-up photography, and flowers and bugs are my favorite subjects. It is nice to have some flower gardens a home.
