There are dozens of websites and tourist offices that will give you more ideas than you could follow up on in a year. Without some indication of what kind of things you like to do on vacation your request is hard to fill. Do you like to drive around and look? How about visit museums and tourist attractions? Do you like to hike? How about mountain hiking with some steep areas? Between Calgary and Golden you will pass through Banff National Park, which includes the town of Banff and Lake Louise, and Yoho National Park which includes the beautiful Emerald Lake. Even before you get to Banff National Park you will pass through the ski resort town of Canmore. If you like to drive and look, the Icefields Parkway (Hwy 93) between Lake Louise and Jasper is arguably the most beautiful drive on the planet.

Agree! Also, the drive between Kelowna and Banff is beautiful; probably the prettiest "regular highway" drive there is. I note mcveed is from Kelowna; that is another great place to visit and do some wine tasting as well. It's a beautiful part of Canada.

It is indeed. I was out walking in the hills just east of my home this afternoon and as I looked out over the city I marvelled at what a beautiful valley I had decided to settle in. And I'm only three hours drive from Revelstoke Mountain National Park, which I think is just the most beautiful place in the world.

You do live in a beautiful valley. I was surprised when I started reading about the Okanagan, often called the Napa Valley of Canada. I live less than an hour from the Napa Valley, and having now been to the Okanagan, the comparison is not unreasonable. Though we only drove through Revelstoke (and Glacier NP Canada), it is beautiful and we'd like to explore both of them.

Bring your wallet and head to the camera store.

If you're looking for a unique urban walk, the riverwalk along the bow river on the northern edge of the city is really nice (and recently redone). Lots of cool bridges and skyline shots.

My thanks to all you who have made suggestions. I will definitely be driving the Ice Fields Parkway. Several other things I'd like to do will probably involve more hiking than my knees will stand (a few miles is probably my limit) so I'll have to skip them. Maybe I can find a tour that will take me to some of those places without my having to hike too many miles.

Thanks again.
