Selling a used lens

I recently purchased a new 24 - 120mm Nikon lens to replace my 28 - 300 kit lens for my D 750. I offered it for sale here, with 4 folks expressing interest, no one followed through. B & H offered me $ 450, and I was ready to send it to them. On that very day, in this forum, someone suggested KEH. I went to their website, found my lens, using their grading system graded my lens as excellent, none higher, and the offer was from $450 to $467.

I had thought B&H paid for shipping, but reading the small print, they want me to pay to ship it to them. KEH included a shipping voucher from Fed Ex, so took the voucher and the lens to Fed Ex two weeks ago. Two days later received an email verifying receipt, and advising up to 10 days to evaluate the lens. In today's mail was a check from KEH for $ 467.

For what it's worth, that would be where I would sell any future camera products. Yes, you may get a little more on EBay, if you're willing to deal with all the crap that people will give you, arguing about condition, who pays for what. Not for me. Clean and simple and in my mind, extremely fair.

I've sold lenses to B&H and they have e-mailed me a packing list and a shipping label.
It has been some time since I've done this, maybe they've changed their policy.

The only time I've sold anything I sold to Roberts. They paid for postage, and the overall experience was very positive.

I use KEH for selling all my gear. Saves time, no hassles, no risk and no scammers.

As someone who was foolish enough to let myself get scammed out of $1500 worth of gear, I'd recommend KEH if not for any other reason that easing of mind. The point that I realized I was scammed was sobering enough to not want to repeat.

You obviously have not used ebay and listened to people who do not know what they are talking about. I buy and sell on ebay and do not have the problem you are talking about.

Hard to tell whether your comment was directed at me or the original poster. When I permitted myself to get ripped off, it was Craiglist and entirely my fault. I didn't mention Ebay in my posting because the poster already stated that he didn't want to deal with Ebay so I avoided commenting against. Like you, I've bought and sold extensively through Ebay, especially in the early days, not so much the last few years. Never had a problem or a haggling issue.

Actually, I have used EBay. I have over 600 feedback, all positive. I have been scammed as a buyer, and hassled as a seller. For me, at 69, life should not be spent dealing with frustration unnecessarily.

I agree about the frustration part. Especially since ebay keeps upping its fees. With Paypal we are now looking at about 15%. When I started on ebay, I was paying less than 5%.! The return for the seller may be a bit higher than Craigslist (larger market) and used camera places (I also found KEH to be very fair) but it is getting less and less beneficial and certainly more hassle for that larger $$ return, to sell on ebay.
