I've had an AOL email account for seventeen years that I use for two dystonia support groups that I lead. One of my daughters lives with that painful disease. I have individual folders in the AOL address book for each support group and for other categories like doctors, media and politicians. AOL has now announced that it is going to charge $3.99 monthly for the account that has been free. Is there a different free email provider into which I can import the address book with the individual folders?
Gmail will allow the same. No charge. I'm not sure about importing address books, etc. Yahoo will allow the same, but I know that one will allow the import of address books. I'd check gmail first, though.

I use gmail. Works great and is free.. Importing groups and contacts no problem
Outlook is free
Comes with Microsoft and is very good.

I've been using Gmail as well as their Contacts and Calendar apps for years . They're easy to use and very versatile and I'm sure there is a way to transfer them over but it might be tricky. AOL is a real bug when it comes to protocol and the reason, as a IT tech, NEVER recommended it to anyone. Search it on line, there are ways to do it.

👍👍👍. Keeping your emails on your own client rather than on a 3rd party server has a number of advantages (including being free).

Thanks, Bob. I've tried both and both imported my AOL address book. However, neither imported the book as separate folders. Yahoo mail will let me establish categories, but it seems as if I'll have to do that manually. I'll have to assign a category individually to each contact. A lot of work, but I might have to do it if I can't find a better solution.

Thanks. Can you tell me how to import the AOL address book as separate groups? I don't see a way to do that.

Thanks, I'm searching for a way to do it. No success yet. I started using AOL when it was popular, there were few choices and had the easiest interface. I've been using the Google calendar for a few years and am happy with it. It easily links to both my iPad and my Android phone.

Because of the merger it's only a matter of time before yahoo starts charging.
