Not quite as early as on Thursday. The weather is spectacularly beautiful. The combination of good sleep, good mood, and everything ready for the 10:00 AM English Mass opened up an hour plus to go out with the camera, one lens (12-60, the perfect walk-around for the narrow streets here) to shoot for a bit. A Slovenian-American student arrives tomorrow mid-morning for a few weeks. After lunch will take him for a walking tour to discourage napping until a proper bedtime. The shots are arranged in the order in which they were taken on the loop that I walked.
Across from the Central Market. The red curtains caught my eye. LJ cafes do not open particularly early. Even McDonald's opens later in the AM as opposed to 5:00.

Graffiti is so omnipresent it becomes a kind of wallpaper that one has to look to notice.

Some of the graffiti shows a degree of skill with the spray can and some is hopelessly crude.

Spires and dome of the Cathedral of St. Nicholas and part of the colonnade taken from the dragon bridge. What says summer better than geraniums?

I enjoy walking in old European cities, and enjoyed your shots! Are a lot of the signs in English, like the sixth picture?
Thanks for the images!
I enjoyed viewing them.

Nice, love looking at your photos but I don't do mornings, I am a Night Owl, I might stay up long enough to see a sunrise. And since I retired from teaching there is no reason to get up at 4:30 any more.
I get a lot of warm afternoon and sunset light photos.

Thanks for commenting. English is commonly spoken here. Slovenian is a very difficult language. I celebrate Mass in it but daily conversational Slovenian is coming slowly. Particularly in LJ there is no problem finding an English speaker even in the supermarket. In some of the more remote areas it may be difficult but the area I was shooting is prime tourist territory. A lot of English. Most restaurants have either interlinear English translation or an English menu.

Thanks for commenting. I'm not eager to return to the U.S. next month. While I know I will be here from mid-April to the end of May I won't know about returning for another year for several weeks yet. A lot of places I haven't seen yet.

Thank you very much. For some reason I rarely cross that particular bridge in the direction I was walking. I'm usually heading away from the Cathedral when crossing there. Glad I looked.

I've always been an early AM guy. Particularly when practicing internal medicine solo getting up at 4:30 was the only way to get in some prayer and meditation time. Living so close to the center of town I can go there any time of the day. LJ, indeed all of Slovenia, is very safe. No worries with the camera any time of day or night, even down by the less populous parts of the river.

Beautiful series. I especially like the bicycle shot. I love photographing the narrow streets of Europe.
Steve
Thank you for the compliments. An outstanding city in which to shoot helps a great deal.

Thanks Steve. I've shot that street multiple times. I walk by it several times a week and there is always at least one bicycle.
Absolutely stunning images, frjack, as always! What a country!
