I am still playing with my Nikon 105mm lens, so I stopped by a little neighborhood park to get a few flower pic's.
Gary, these are excellent to my eye. Colombine is not an easy flower to get sharp and these look tack sharp to me. I also love the colors and the exposure seems to be just right! Keep practicing but know that you have pretty much reached your goal for sharpness.

Thank you Carol for you positive comments. Although I am never completely satisfied when it comes to my favorite hobby, my goal is to achieve the best possible images possible within my resources limitations. Just checking, but do you have any extra D810 for sale?
Thank you so much Carol.
Gary
Sorry, Gary! I only have one D810 and I won't part with it. lol A lot of my best work has been done with a D7100 and a lot of the flowers I have shot at Lowes and other plant nurseries were with a D5300. Both cameras do an excellent job. The effort you are putting into your photography pays off no matter what equipment you use!

Beautifully crafted images, Gary! I agree with Carol, your skill is what makes the pictures a pleasure to view, regardless of the camera you use.

Hi dmeyer,
Thank you for your kind comments. Flowers just seem to jump out if front of my lens, and all I have to do is pull the trigger. When I used a film camera, every shot had to be perfectly composed. With digital, I can just go crazy and try to be a bit more creative.
Thank you again for your comments.

Beautiful set, Gary! Columbine is one of my favorites and your captures, colors, details and bonus bug are fantastic!!
Outstanding set of images. All are excellent images, but my personal favorite here is #6. Just like the colorful flower against the black background.

Hi angela k,
Columbine's are one of my favorite flowers to photograph. I don't have any in my garden, so when I spotted some in a little neighborhood park I had to stop. The next morning I went back to get some more shots. The wind was gusting, so the poor little bug was hanging for the ride.

Thank you for your kind comments, tbell7D,
Whenever I get a chance, I try a black ground and under expose the subject. It gives a more dramatic affect.

Thank you ebbote. I'm still playing around with my 105mm lens; it is sharp, but not all that easy to use. Most of the shots were taken in full manual mode.
