CS6 just loaded in new machine with Microsoft 7. Open a file and small pics in raw are there with jpgs. Click one on RAW and Adobe says cannot open. A window opens and allows you to go to a useless site and by phone Adobe does not support CS6 by phone. Any help would be appreciated. Do I have to go to CC? Affinity opens raw but cannot use it because all I see is file numbers not previews.

What camera and what version of CS6? Have you checked for the latest version of CS6?

Try doing an update on CS6. Go to help menu and go down to update and click on that. Also, what camera body are you using for your raw images?

Camera Raw 9.1.1 is the Final Update for Photoshop CS6 Customers

Check to see if your camera requires a higher version. I suspect it does.

If this was working before you installed CS6 on the new machine, then all you need to do is update the ACR, as mentioned before. What camera you are using is immaterial, if it was the same one you were using prior to the new install.

Which in case you now realize that Adobe is no longer supporting CS6 upgrades. Sorry.

Yes That's the answer I was given when I talked to them by phone. CS6 is no longer supported by phone on Adobe. Tried Affinity and it works and you can save it to psd, but your loose all the pre-empts that Nik allows. Have not tried alien skin but will probably have to go with CC because of the new Canon IV. Now have the Canon III. Thanks all for your help and perspectives.

I have CS6, which is updating now, and I can open my NEF files. To update, go here -

I currently have the same problem.

It started when CS6 wouldn't open the raw files from my new Nikon D500. So I downloaded the DNG converter from the site Terry White from Adobe recommended. It worked. It converted the NEF files to DNG which I was able to see and open in Adobe Camera Raw (or Lightroom). All is good, right?

Wrong. A month later similar files went back to doing the same thing. Frustrating to me, as computers are supposed to work consistently if nothing changes. Well, nothing changed on my end. So I'm left to wonder if Adobe or another outside source changed something behind the scenes. In the meantime, I sit wondering what my latest shots would look like on my computer and in the future having to shoot JPEGs.

Yes, computers can be frustrating. As for thinking what they would look like, they would be absolutely beautiful! Who's going to argue with you?

How do you get latest version of CS6? Camera is Canon III and used 9.1.1 for RAW. Last year I had to buy a new lap and went thru the same situation. The DNG was uploaded and then did not work. Yes I found the 9.1.1 and no more problems. My version of CS6 was on a disc that I bought years ago. The problem is with raw always with Adobe. Raw is important because it contains a lot more information for finalizing a print. In jpg the print can go to hell very quickly with little manipulation because the camera has already configured what it thinks is a good pic. I have used Affinity but it is not perfect and have not tried Alien Skin yet. The last straw is CC. They always win at Adobe.

I looked back to your previous threads, and posts. I see you started a "Thread" about the "Canon IV" RAW not opening. I feel you have a Canon 5D Mark III, and 5D Mark IV. Canon does publish (for free) Canon PP for both versions of the cameras. What is your aversion to using this to "open" your RAW images for review. The version that was in the box with your 5D Mark IV will not only open RAW from the 5D IV, but all previous Canon cameras. If you don't have the CD, you can certainly download the CPP version from the Canon website. You are asking for Adobe to upgrade a totally obsolete program CC6, to comply with a camera, made by Canon long after the release of their software. If you were to use a Adobe "free" software, you would be able to at least view your CR2 files. I suggest you either spend the dime, or look at other PP software. The Adobe CC, is not a fortune, but is fully supported, and regularly updated, and resides on your computer for daily use.

I open RAW on CS6 all of the time in Window 8 and 10. I ue Adobe Bridge to elect what I want and then enter and it open CS6.
