That was so fantastic, and with a whole bunch of my favorite singers also. Someone did a fantastic job of Photoshoping the background. Also, while I was on the site, I found and listened to Dolly Parton sing Jolene which reminded me way back in my college days. I was working part time in this restaurant and when it was closing time, the owner would put Jolene on the juke box and crank it up. As you may well know, the customers didn't just sit around and talk any longer.

Grrrr! Don't get me started on Nashville Pop and the legacy of Chet Atkins. Atkins got rid of fiddles and banjos in an effort to compete with R&R and remove references to a poor rural south and sell records. Country has made a bit of a comeback but there are very few Nashville Inc. artists I can listen to. The irony is Nashville teems with outstanding musicians in the old and new styles. Alt Country and Americana are the refuge for musical bigots like me. There's an old saying ..."If you want to play in Texas you better have a fiddler!". Jimmie Rodgers, Hank and Lefty, Trad, Honky Tonk and Western Swing forever!!

Musical bigots???? Now I enjoyed the video you posted and I don't like all the new country artists but my favorite is Alan Jackson, he's not real new and he still uses violins and banjos in some of his songs. I would give ten years of my life to play guitar like Chet Atkins. Country and bluegrass is about all I can listen to now.

+ 10!! Alan Jackson is one of the greats and has a long time recording partnership with fiddler Stewart Duncan.

California Blues. I can sink my teeth into both of these performances.

California blues Merle Haggard

Well, maybe, but Chet could make a guitar do magic, I have an album or two of him and Jerry Reed and others that are great.

Jimmie Rodgers was before all of our times but history is important, he casts a long shadow. He died young of TB and left a serious musical legacy.

'Cause there ain't nobody
Ever whipped the T.B. blues
I've got the T.B. blues

Of course Chet Atkins was a great picker but like the Woody Guthrie song "There's More Pretty Gals Than One".

Chet was known to save time by playing Yankee Doodle and Dixie at the same time.

The things he could do with a guitar are fantastic. The one song he did that I really liked was yellow bird. He used an acoustic guitar and I still enjoy it.

Don't forget Roy Clark and Glen Campbell, they were great guitar pickers.
