I enjoy close-up photography, so I bought a Nikkor 105mm several months ago as my "go to" close-up lens. I am still trying to determine if the 105mm lens is as sharp as advertised. The first shot was with the 105mm and the second image I used a 70-200mm Nikkor lens. It appears to me overall quality and sharpness is about the same.

Thank you. I'm starting to like the 105mm lens a bit better.

Great capture and super sharp with great color. Love the black background.I have the 105 and it is super sharp. i shoot at F11. my 200 micro nikkor is just as sharp hand held.

Hi PixelStan77,
Thank you for your kind comment. I'm my worst critic. For me, it's never good enough. I have always liked to use a black background whenever possible for the dramatic effect.

Gary, you can definitely show the first one with pride and confidence. The detail is great as is the lighting. It is a beautiful capture! The other shot is ok but not nearly as impressive as the first one.

Carol, thank you for you kind review. The first pic is defiantly better, but I believe it can still kick it up a notch. It's what keeps me going.

Hi Nikoncowboy,

Number 1 seems clearer on my iPad Air 2.
