I knew that the drive from Canyon, Texas to Dallas would be a long one, so headed out early. There was no direct or easier way to get to Rt. 287 from Canyon other than to head north and catch I-40 in Amarillo for a few exits. The day was overcast and a few times I thought that I was going to have a thunderstorm along the way. It did rain some, but not much. There was also fog on the first part of the trip. I stopped at a rest area for a break and saw some birds I didn't recognize swooping in and out of the trees - chasing each other - and having very long tails. I got some OK shots of what I identified as Scissor-Tailed Flycatchers, but I really need to have a better wildlife lens. On my way out of the rest area, a group of bluebonnets appeared, and I found it appropriate that since I had started my trip with bluebonnets, they should be there to complete the circle that I had just traversed through Texas and New Mexico. There were lots and lots of wind farms in the Panhandle and down through the Wichita Falls area, and having experienced the ever-present wind through northeast New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle, I can understand why. I eventually crossed the Red River which was quite wide and RED - so I understand how it had come to be named. My entry into the Dallas area was interesting and my GPS got me to my hotel with no problem at all, but I was extremely happy to get out of the traffic.

Thank you all for following along with my on my trip. I enjoyed posting photos that I thought would be most representative of what I saw and experienced, and am glad that you enjoyed them also.
