Inspired by Brenda's picture and additional information regarding the Spittle Bug Nymph, I decide to investigate the aptly named drops in my garden.
After a feeble attempt at hand held it started to rain so I cut a spittle-laden stem and retreated to the studio (spare bedroom). Even with the stem in my macro rack (normally used for focus-stacking) I found it difficult to transfer the shot envisioned in my head, to the camera.
I've shared three favourites below for you to enjoy, ignore or criticise as you feel fit. All in all an enjoyable exercise, for me if not the nymph.
The Nymph has been returned to the garden in it's spittle sack unharmed.
Success. Well done, the British wind and rain does make one-handed shots difficult with heavy kit. We had thunder, lightening and heavy rain for a short spell this morning and then it turned hot and sunny as I expect it has over in beautiful Wales. No doubt you will be tempted to shoot the Spittle bug nymph again some day as I am.
Your three-photo set is self-explanatory. Well done.

Thanks Brenda, according to Mrs B we had the storms last night, I slept right through it. Hand held next time.

Thanks Douglass, the problem is that the shots my mind’s eye imagine far exceed my skill to produce them …….. but I’ll keep trying.
Very successful. I actually like the first one best since you can see the critter inside its frothy home.
Excellent depiction and self-explanatory.
