Is there any value to these or should I just get rid of them?

Never throw anything out. List it on Ebay. People will buy anything.

You can always get a real good idea of what the value of something is by looking at what they SOLD for on ebay. Here is a current listing for 4 trays for $2 plus $35 for shipping. This should tell you everything you need to know.

In the event you are not successful selling, they provide a unique way to hold business cards for customers and photo club members.

They are not useless but about $1-$2 each is fair.

The shipping is an absolute rip off but for something you need and is relatively rare since most got junked years ago you just have to pay it or keep looking.

If something can be recycled reused or rehomed, it has to be better than going into some landfill somewhere, or worse. A little bit of positive energy for your karma.

Shipping has gotten very expensive. I paid $17 to return shoes that were too small. Free shipping on ebay is a very good incentive for buying from one seller over another.

Tends to be free shipping to you, not so for returns, negotiating a partial refund is usually better for both sides if the item is broke. Chinese stuff be prepared to eat the loss they do free shipping because they ship via container and the local postal service does the delivery for free in a reciprocal arrangement. For you, you're paying for 1 item to ship to china, usually cost of postage makes this pointless. On the positive side they would rather ship a replacement than get negative feedback (usually a replacement is not going to arrive in time to leave any feedback). If you're smart then you ask for a refund instead, if you still want to deal with the vendor you can reorder with a clean sheet.

Ebays 'Global' shipping is even worse. Essentially it's shipping to a distributing center and then a label with your address gets slapped on it and it gets put in the post again. Effectively 2 sets of shipping costs and shipping time usually doubled.

I think there is some advantage to the seller, probably no customs declaration (probably not needed for within the EU) and I may be mistaken but Ebay takes responsibility if it gets lost or damaged after it reaches the distribution centre.

I know someone who sold a $600 camera which went missing in the post not only did he lose the camera he had to refund the buyer. Instead of a $600 sale he got a $1200 loss plus ebay's percentage of course. I bought a scanner from him, he was prepared to sell to me face to face rather than sell for a little more (+postage) to a fella in Dublin

If you haven't yet converted your slides on a scanner hold on to them till you do. And before you spend money on an add in the paper take them to your local camera store and see if they might buy them.
