I just reviewed the Indy 500 web sight and there is no mention of lens restriction at the race. If you check the list of prohibited items it does not allow professional cameras at concerts only. I have been going to the race since 1980. Last year I brought my Tameron 150-600 telo lens without issue. When you enter the gate to the track you will have your bag searched to look for prohibited items i.e., knives, guns, or other type dangerous items. In the past races I have carried a Canon 100-400 telephoto lens without any problem. As far as use of the long lens in the stands common courteous is all one needs. Again never had any issues. At times I have allowed others around me use my telephoto lens to take some pictures.

Yes, I provided a link over in L&R to the actual Indy 500 rules - the third and fourth rules allow almost anything as long as you're not getting in someone's way.

All's I can tell you is what I read on IMS web site, this year their not allowing "professional camera's",DSLR's with telephoto lenses.Inside the speedway for security reasons.Don't get me wrong I think this is pretty ridiculous as someone who loves to photograph races myself.I don't know why they think camera's are a security threat.

Would you please provide the link where you're seeing this?

Your mother must be really proud of you; you send a hundred posters into a panic at your unsubstantiated Fake News. The actual rules
http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-463116-1.html#7779534clearly allow all cameras and all supporting stuff which doesn't create a hazard. I'm guessing you were reading rules for the concert; both make noise, but otherwise they have little in common.

At least twice the guy's been asked where he's seeing this information, and, so far, twice he hasn't answered.
If I see it again I'll try and post it.
