Aah, one of those naturally healthy wetland places. Lots of sphagnum moss and peat perhaps?

Yes lot of peat in the early days , it was shipped by rail and truck , but the place hasent run for fifty or more years , it was called

My laptop is completely bogged down so much that it barely performs anymore. I'm wondering if I have it completely backed up, if restoring it would let me start new. I've purchased a Lightroom work flow course and want to "begin again" with knowledge of Lightroom and how to not take up so much space etc. Any suggestions? I really only use it these days for my photos. Is this a really bad idea or one that would work?

It's ridiculously easy to wipe and reinstall the OS on a Mac. Just make sure all your data is backed up - twice. And make sure you have installation disks or files to reinstall programs. Make sure you have all the license keys. Taking the time to prepare for the installation will save you trouble later.

You will be using a virtually new computer - fresh and clean!

Yep, sometimes a "clean" install is the best answer (and the preparations Jerry suggests avoid many inconveniences).

I know it's been a while since I first posted this but I'm getting ready to do it. Should I buy the upgrade recommended before wiping it? Or does that matter? TIA! I have backed everything up. Twice.

The "upgrade recommended" to what? You should be able to wipe and install the latest Mac OS.

It would be best to do that first. When the new OS installs, it will see the memory right away. Of course, you can install memory any time, but right at the beginning seems best.

Shoot---one more question. Where do I locate all of the keys, etc. that you mentioned before wiping?
