I just received an email from Topaz announcing Topaz Studio, the "New Photo Editor from Topaz Labs". This to me looks like an image editor designed to compete with On1. It does not look like it works with all of the 17 different modules I purchased over the years (and which I like very much), but rather like a stand alone or plug in with its own integrated modules, like On1. Perhaps I'm wrong, but that's what it looks like to me. If so, what becomes of the 17 individual modules that were purchased? Obviously they can still be used, but then one asks why the new Toaz Studio is needed. There was no demo video provided with the email so it is not possible to see exactly what they are selling. Topaz is offering the full program for $70 through May 31, $270 after that. A smaller version with 10 adjustments rather than 24 is available for free. Does anyone know anything more explicit or have any thoughts? I will email them eventually, but that is always a challenge, and one never knows if a response will be forthcoming.

So Topaz Labs wants to compete with Adobe (Elements, Lightroom, Photoshop), with Affinity, with DxO, with On1 Photo Raw, with Corel, etc., etc.

I am mildly curious, but suspect that On1's new Photo Raw has had a lot more work done on it. I've been reading some of the forums where no one seems to be happy with the product, nor sees the need for it. I'm holding off. I am a dues paying member of the LR/PS CC crowd who purchased Serif's Affinity Photo for PC, and it calls all the Topaz Plugins from within there, so I think it would be redundant. I'm holding off on this purchase. I also own the On1 Suite, Dxo Optics, and all versions of PSE from 8 to 15, so I think I'm just about set for photo editors.

It certainly does seem like your are all set! I have a number of programs as well, and will also wait and see. What I am not clear about is where each of there modules fits into the "Studio", if at all.

Thanks for the link. I didn't see it! Where did you see that the "Studio" will host all of the individual modules? I missed that as well. I also have On1, but I really like it, so I will probably hold off and wait a while. I am looking forward to the results of your research. Please post when you have completed your research.

It's just above the 10 free adjustments. Here's the part about the plug-ins:
"Host Topaz Plugins
Topaz Studio works as a host for all of your Topaz Plugins, that means no more reliance on photoshop, Lightroom, or other paid image editors as a host for your favorite Topaz products.
I will let you know. Hopefully by the end of this holiday weekend.
I find it interesting. I have almost every editing program developed – and the latest versions. I'm sort of a junkie. When push comes to shove and I have to edit a batch of images to deliver to a client or some images I need processed immediately — I fall back on LRCC and PhotoshopCC. The closest I come to changing is CaptureOne and that's because of its superior tethering capability. All this bologna boils down to the fact that I believe we all –at least many_ of us have a secret desire to abandon Adobe for greener pastures – which probably don't exist. If I can ever figure out the file management conventions on CaptureOne I may slide away, maybe, possible, could be – naw – probably not.
Well, I did it. Pulled the trigger and got everything Topaz offers that I didn't already have for $99. So far so good. Have much to learn.

Congrats! Enjoy! Do the modules (adjust, denoise, impression, textures, etc.) integrate with the new Studio?
