Jim, I am running Windows 7 pro and there is a "Windows DVD Maker" already installed with Windows. I believe all of the windows searies have the same or very near the same DVD type program. Click on your "Start" button and then open "All Programs" and look the list over for the Movie Maker or DVD maker program. It's fairly easy to make a "movie or slide show" from the program. You might want to go to you tube and search for Windows Movie Maker. No doubt thaty have several such clips.

Good Luck
Dave

Not necessarily - Microsoft stopped including it as part of the OS package quite a while ago; I'm not sure if XP or Vista was the last OS version to include Windows Movie Maker before it was dropped. It is definitely not included with 7 and up.

My sons seems to be working on videos all the time, generally with Power Director. At timers he uses the Windows program for different effects. It works very well.

If you are using Vista, it should already be there. I used Vista for years and it was on mine.

I just looked at my year 2010 Win 7, and there it is just waiting to be used. I'm glad you asked, or I would have never looked.

The old XP version is very much better than the cutdown crap version they will send for Win10. The new one is almost impossible to use compared to the older version. I think some of the software makers got on them for giving away a good FREE product so they made it bad.

It is a little harder to get Movie Maker now since MS no longer supports it as of January or February of this year. As others have pointed out, there are multiple versions, the latest is Movie Maker 2012. Many people prefer the older versions that use to be a part of Windows.

But, no version of Movie Maker produces a DVD directly. In Windows 7 and earlier versions, like Vista, MS included a DVD burning program called DVD Maker that linked semi-automatically to Movie Maker. I really liked this program. It is no longer available in Windows 10, and another DVD burning program is required to burn the DVD from the file that is exported from Movie Maker.

I do use Movie Maker 2012, but I also use Adobe's Premiere Elements 15, which has the capabilities to burn DVDs, including Blu-Ray DVDs. I often use both programs on the same video project.

There is a popular Facebook group called Movie Maker. Its administrator and routine contributor is PapaJohn Buechler. He is the total expert on all aspects of Movie Maker for all versions. Here is the link to his website.

It works great with Windows 10 and older. It is totally free.

It may be a little hard to find the free download. But it is out there. Microsoft doesn't support it but it works great with Windows 10. Much better than the Lightroom slide show feature plus lets you include video.

I recently learned about it at a free program on a cruise. The instructor downloaded it to one of my spare camera cards for me.
