One and three are terrific. The background sky is interesting. Are the backgrounds for one and three natural or did you "shop" them. If so how?

Hey Greg, I've been looking at these myself and my first thought were maggots as well. These are actually two different birds and fish. In the 4 or 5 years I have photographed Osprey I have never once see them scavenge a fish, always fresh caught. Eagles are a different story. The Osprey adults only eat the head and guts then discard the rest of the fish. These have been eaten on a little more than most. I wonder if the parents have brought back so much food for the youngsters that the flies and maggots have developed in the nest.

If you ever run into a conservation biologist that would be a good question. I just found it interesting that "whatever the bugs" they were right below the fish in both photos. Isn't it absolutely amazing that we have electronics, combined with glass and motors and human reflexes that can capture that kind of detail at that distance? If you could go back 50 years in time and predict such things they would probably throw you in the loony bin.

These are natural and not Photo Shopped. It's the game of chance. You have to be there to capture the shot. How often do you get a rising sun in the east with flying birds and clouds in the west facing east. Perfect conditions. I've shot this lake at least a dozen times in the last 3 or 4 years and only twice have had this type of condition. Normally when clouds are present they are blocking the sun and not helping the shot. To be at the right place at the right time, takes more than once 99% of the time...

Actually now that you mentioned it I visit a photographers group at Archbold biological station down the road in Venus Florida, (they like my jumping spider shots) 5 or 6 times a year. I'll have them take a look and see what they think, Thanks.....
