Are there camera stores, local or online, allow you to buy a camera for a few days and then return it for full refund? I am not sure but I don't think so.

if they have any return policy it usually includes a restocking fee. Sounds like you want a Cheap (free) rental

Not so! I want to determine if there are people who would buy cameras and return paying a restocking fee so that manufacturers have them as refurbished.

Still not sure what you are asking. I'm sure many have some type of return policy. Are you trying to determine if the store would resell it as new, or used assuming no mechanical issues? Interesting question. if returned and there were mechanical issues, I would assume the dealer would send it back and end up refurbished.

So you want to return the camera and purchase the same camera again as a refurb? You would then request the camera with the specific serial number? Maybe I just don't understand what the goal is.

Can't tell you what to do, but, I always just CALL the store or online retailer and ask about their return policy. But then again, I am not you.

All the good online retailers, and many stores, allow for returns within a certain time period. Of course, those cameras cannot be resold as new, so the dealer takes a substantial loss, and there could be a restocking fee. Unfortunately, some people see this as a cheap way to "rent" a camera. Do your research before buying. When I buy a new camera, I generally sell the old one on ebay.

So you want a free rental at the expense of the retailer.
If you are not sure about what you want there are at least 2 options.
Go into a store and handle the demonstrator camera in the store or better yet go to Lens Rentals and rent one for a week for about 50-80 bucks.
You sound like you want life to be free at other's expense.

I think all stores allow return but would charge a restocking fee (so please correct me if I am wrong about this) I think there would be very few people who buy cameras and then return although there is nothing wrong with the camera. If so the cameras manufacturers have for refurbished are mostly defective or store samples and not those got returned without problem.

I believe B&H has what you are looking for. If they do, Adorama probably has the same policy.

About a year ago, I purchased an $800 camera from B&H. Didn't like it and returned it for full refund. I have spent thousands with them and this was my first return - if that made any difference.

It may be a good idea to rent the camera you are interested in instead of you and the dealer going through the hassle of buy and return.

Thanks! I have no intention for a free rent or trying out the camera before buying. My intention is to determine how many of the refurbished are the return with no issue, how many had issue but repaired and how many are demos.

Tried out a used 70D from B&H, didn't like the size, and returned it in a week (they gave 2) and no questions asked except "how'd we do?"
Good, I'd say...

There is a difference between demos and being refurbished. A refurb means that there was something that had to be worked on. Could have been major or minor. That said imagine if you had that camera? A refurb lens or camera has been gone over with a fine brush by the manufacturer. I would go with it. A demo lens or camera is exactly what it says. Was probably used by one of the companies reps or tech reps.
