Newbie in Las Vegas,Nv. Sony A7ii questions.
Hello all. I've been watching this site for a month now. Finally signed up. What a great site and wealth of information! I'm new to Dslr /mirrorless. Last cameras were Point and shoot and film before that. I'm interested in mostly landscape type photography, petroglyphs in particular. Shooting in raw seems a little intimidating as am still learning camera functions etc...So much fun and so interesting, very complicated compared to film. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I am using A7ii,28-70 kit zoom,55 1.8 , and 70-200 f4g lenses. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Thanks in advance for new info and all the info I've been reading to this point.

Good camera. There are only three complications: a) Unlike film, you can control the sensitivity (ISO--old ASA) whereas with film you mostly had to take what came. If you were a darkroom whiz you could push a little. b) White balance is controllable by you. c) RAW allows you to extend the dynamic range if you are willing to learn just a little about post processing. With film, this was pretty much "baked in."
I recommend shooting RAW and buying Affinity Photo to do your post processing. Easy to learn the basics but can be very sophisticated if you wish.

Thanks for the reply Reinaldo , much appreciated info. I have downloaded and started to look at Capture one for Sony. Free with camera purchase. Have not tried to use it yet. Will take some raw pics today and try it out. Thanks again!
Thanks. Looking forward to hearing from you all.
Thanks for all the nice welcomes.
Capture One has many learning videos. You can get a full version for Sony (not the free one) for $50.
Welcome to the forum

Welcome to UHH mikex, glad you finally joined us. Don't know the Sony line of cameras so I will not comment on that.
Have fun, learn and enjoy the forum.
