I'm hoping we might have a few UHHer's with green thumbs out there that might be able to identify this plant/flower. Here's a short description that may help, the plant is approximately 6 inches tall growing in a cluster about 6 to 8 inches around, there were others in the general area that were just single flowers off by themselves too. The blossoms measure about an inch across at their widest and about 1-1/8 inch long from the top petals to the end of the lower most petal. They appear to like shade as I didn't find any in direct sun areas of the yard. To me they have an Iris look about them, and are very dainty and the flower stalks are very thin and appear to be barely able to support the weight of the flowers at the ends. Thanks for any clues in helping me get an ID. Here are some sample images, these are exports from as shot (raw) files, only PP was LR white balance adjustment.
Looks like a bearded iris to me.

I'm thinking it might be in the Iris family but; aren't they much bigger and usually grow as a single stalk single flower type thing? Or is this a dwarf variety of Iris? I've never seen these growing wild around here (NH) before, not to say they don't just cause I haven't seen them.

I went and googled Bearded Irises and the main leaves of the plant are completely different, they are more like Daffodils or Jonquils, than the leaves found on this one. They also have multiple flowers per stalk which I wasn't aware they did, I thought one flower to the stalk. These little guys only have one flower per stalk.

Thank you Frank, I think I've found it. I believe it's a Common Blue Violet (Viola sororia).
Looks like a violet to me, rdubreuil! We walked in the park today and saw many, many violets.
