Do any of you watch Father Brown, the mystery series from England? I have my suspicions about why they removed/replaced a character.
The character who played Sid is doing a play in London.

I too, watch it religiously! I actually watch a lot of the British programming on PBS.
We watch a couple of episodes every night or so. Great fun. Sid gone? Dang.

In the last episode I watched, Lady Felicia left. I just read that Sid also left. I suspected that she was being replaced by her young, beautiful niece to boost ratings, something that is often done in this country. I read, though, that she was offered another role that she wanted. She was in four episodes of Prime Suspect in 2017. I didn't know they had continued that series. I'll have to look for it.
"Sid" is in a play in London.

I just started watching Shetland - excellent!
Take a look at these: Death in Paradise, Luther, The Doctor Blake Mysteries, and Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries - the last two from Australia.
I watched the whole series on Netflix. Very sorry that it ended.

Online talk seems to imply that it will continue.

Didn't care for Luther.....Oh well.

Never watched that series jerry. I could recommend two other BBC series "Line of duty" and Silent Witness"..can be gory..but excellent story lines.
I highly recommend the books as well; G.K. Chesterton was a prolific author but I always liked the Father Brown stories best of all. You can find some of them at Project Gutenberg.

Death in Paradise screens here just as Winter is losing it's icy grip (though it's not too icy these past few Winters - just miserable). Easy viewing and a bit of sunshine is just what I need then.
I like to hear that some of our British TV programs are popular in the USA and you may be interested in one entitled The Durrells. It is the story of Gerald Durrell, the naturalist, growing up on a Greek Island and his interest in all animals. It features his family and their friends and is a gentle family program with humour which kids would probably enjoy as well as adults.
By the way, a new series of Doc Martin is being filmed now to be televised in the Autumn. Happy viewing.

Yeah, Luther has a great reputation, but I haven't felt the need to go back to it. I prefer police dramas to be about the crimes, not about the personal lives of the cops.

My wife and I love Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, Father Brown, and Murdoch Mysteries (The Artful Detective.) Australian, British, and Canadian series that put our American TV to shame.
