My UHH friend Dook, sent me a link to a web site about Australia and the Outback.
There is always a lot of interest on UHH about the Aussie Outbak so I thought I'd post it here (hope that's ok Dook) for all to see. Hope you all enjoy.

Oz is great. I've been there six times. It is one place where Americans are still welcomed. It is full of great photo ops. If you go, fly Quantas. It has been in business since 1917...without a single fatality yet. It's a bit more expensive, but well worth it. Once there, visit Dracula's Cabaret in Melbourne. The Red Center, Great Barrier Reef, Bondi Beach, etc, are also worth a visit. Oz is slightly larger than the USA, with twice as much coastline (no Canada, or Mexico, attached). One State (Western Australia) is 4.5 times as large as Texas. Oz has: 42 species of parrots, 17 of the world's deadliest snake species, Black Swans, Salt Water Crocodiles, and Fairy Penguins...among other interesting critters. The gum trees shed their bark rather than their leafs. The seasons down under are the reverse of those in The Northern Hemisphere. Winter here is Summer there. Real estate, and gasoline, cost much more in Oz, than here in the USA, but everything else is about the same price once you factor in the exchange rate. English is The National Language in Oz, but bone up on 'Strine' (Australian Slang) before you go. Time your visit to Melbourne to coincide with Moomba...the Victoria State Fair.

A good Strine, place name, flora, and fauna primer. This was current when I lobbed up. "... Oh great Barry, a reefer!"
