I have 2 days in Iceland in June I hadn't planned on and would appreciate recommendations on photo ops. Not sure how I'm getting around at this point but I'll do something to get where I should be. Thanks much for your usual great advice.

Gas is expensive but driving is easy tho roads are a bit narrow. Find the glaciers and waterfalls you want. Plan your trip, rent a car (or camper) and go. A most wonderful country.

Iceland is a must-see. Anywhere you go you will find photo ops.

There is a three stop day trip, I think called the golden circle. You can take it on a bus if needed. It goes to the geyser area, a huge falls called gulfoss, and a place where the tectonic plates meet where the original althing met. I have done it twice. Once on a short trip in late November on a bus tour. Once in a rented car before I drove the ring road in late October. You may have crowds. Off season I did not. I would spend the second day in Reykjavik. If you want more nature, go to the South Coast. Black sand beaches, etc. Great waterfalls without driving too far.

I second the motion for the Golden Circle tour. Two days is not very much time at all. Iceland is a small country, but it is slow-going to get around there by car. My husband and I drove around it for 12 days 2 years ago, and it was not nearly enough time. Here's hoping you have good weather.

With only two days you should plan on staying along the south coast. Lots of photo ops along highway 1.

I walked from my hotel to the center of town and then walked around the center of the city, Reykjavik. I took many photos and thought it a good use of my time. I then took a one day tour that stopped at many scenic places and took photos along the way. Since you only have two days don't worry if "two days is not much time " or the Golden Circle will not fit your schedule. I enjoyed my two day photographic journey tremendously .

By the way don't worry about traffic if you take bus tours. I asked the concierge if weekend traffic would be a problem and she responded "No problem. We only have one traffic jam a year and it is in August" That was five years ago but I bet things have not changed.

Spent about 8 days in Iceland last year - still not enough time. There are great photo opportunities everywhere, but you need a lot of time to see most of them.

Iceland is gorgeous. I was there last June, around solstice, for about ten days. Long days, night time is still very light, so there are opportunities for photography late into the evening. If there for only two days, I concur with the recommendation for the Golden Circle and Reykjavik itself, which is a cool city. One of the most beautiful water falls is called Seljalandsfoss, and it is an hour or so southeast of Reykjavik, just off the Ring Road, Rt. 1. You can walk behind the falls, which makes for interesting photos. Hit it later in the day, and you can capture the sun low in the sky and possibly rainbows from the falls. In Reykjavik, the museums are very good, and you can't miss Hallgrímskirkja (literally, it is the highest thing in Reykjavik). Pay a small fee and go up to the top for stunning 360`views of Reykjavik. Overall, tourism increases every year, especially in Reykjavik and the Golden Circle, but it is not obnoxious, yet. Icelandic people are friendly and most speak perfect English.

I went with a group on a bus, and would use a car if I go again. On the bus I had to pass up many opportunities for images because we were moving. I especially would have liked to photograph their horses, nursing foals, etc., but was not able to.

If you want to rent a car, you may get a better price using a local company. We used something called Fair Car which was fine. Make sure u know about supplemental insurance options like protection against wind borne sand and grit which might mess up a paint job. Also make sure you get an off road vehicle if you need it. We did not but still could use many dirt roads. You need a good map if you are not doing basic things like the golden circle.

You can rent a car at the airport. The roads in Iceland are good and easy to drive. The problem, I see for you is 2 days is not enough time in Iceland. I was there for 3 days in 2015 and wish I had more time to visit.

Give me an idea on what you want to photograph and I'll give you my best recommendation.

Be advised that evensupplemental insurance does not cover underbody damage regardless of the vehicle type: car or suv.
