Really like your Fort Worth rodeo photos. I to am looking forward to your Big Ben photos.

It was a fun time, even though I had gotten up at 3:00 a.m. on the east coast to catch my plane, and was going until 10:00 p.m. that night (11:00 pm EDT). I had never been to a real rodeo and it was a great opportunity to see and TRY to photograph it. There were strobe lights, spotlights, and smoke - a real theatrical production at times. Thanks for looking and your comments.

The Stockyards are one of my favorite places here in the MetroMess. Glad you had a fun time in Cowtown.....nice set and look forward to the photos from the rest of your trip.

Talk about metro-mess - which, by the way, is a wonderful word, I got my first GPS just for that reason - and had the "scenic" tour of Ft. Worth - in and out. I re-programmed the darned thing to take me the fastest way, rather than the most direct. Since I was out and about for 20 days, there will be many more posts. Thanks for looking.

Thanks Pat. Have lots of photos, but don't want to overburden anyone. There was one little boy that I met going into the back of the colosseum - he had a barrel with him and I asked him - jokingly - if he was going to be in the ring. He said yes - and he was. He was part of the rodeo clowns, but was not in the ring when the animals were. He was absolutely adorable - constant motion and hard to photograph, but adorable. I think it was a grandfather, two sons, and he was the grandson. I tell you, he had the moves to get the crowd really cranked up.

Lovely, fun set. I hope you'll have a lot more of your trip to share.

You will get tired of seeing posts from me - I was out in TX/NM for 21 days, so have plenty of photos to go. Hope you don't get tired of them. Thanks for looking in and commenting.

I recently took a 3 week trip to Texas and New Mexico. I flew into Dallas, picked up my rental car and headed out, making a clockwise circle from Dallas through the Hill Country, to Big Bend National Park, on to Carlsbad, New Mexico, Alamagordo, NM, Amarillo, Texas, and back to Dallas. There were lots of adventures along the way, and this post is for my first night - the Forth Worth Stockyards and Rodeo. The "drovers" for the twice-daily longhorn cattle drive are on the street of the stockyard area to answer questions and let you take their photo. Then there is a rodeo each Friday and Saturday night that was quite exciting but challenging because of the lighting and speed of the action. I had contacted one of the UHH members - Jay Pat - before I came, but we couldn't make our schedules work for a meeting while I was in the Hill Country.

I did have a great time. My first (but not last) trip to Texas. Traveling in the spring with the wildflowers and Chihuahuan Desert in bloom was wonderful. Thanks for looking and commenting.

A bit of fill flash would have worked wonders on the first two.

I think you are absolutely right. I was using my Canon which I am sorry to say, I have not taken the time to really learn well. I am going to get my book out and study up on how to use the flash when not on Auto. Maybe I can figure out how to do a bit of lightening in PP. Thanks for the comment.

Great set. I haven't been to a rodeo in 55 years. It certainly brings back memories.

This was my first rodeo - not counting the ones I watched on TV. It was very exciting, and I had a great time trying to get photos of the action. Thanks for looking and commenting.
