We have a few pairs of Wood Ducks visiting our pond lately. They are pretty tough to catch in flight. They tend to come out of nowhere and zoom right in for a landing - no circling or warning noise like geese.
So forgive me since my series starts with the male just having splashed down (me too slow to catch up to him first). They of course instantly spotted me, giving me a chance for a nice butt shot. The pair then slowly eased away until they exploded off the water. I caught up to one with my lightning fast reflexes but of course it was hen. Oh well.
Btw, swimming ducks were with C - 25 point activated by my front Fn1 button. The in-flight focus was using C - Grp mode which I have set as the default mode when shooting birds. I'm fairly pleased with the Grp mode. Presently, I'm also playing with the C - Auto mode which holds promise for extremely unpredictable birds in flight.

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful shots. The birds are gorgeous and the water looks very clean. I am glad you mentioned group mode for focusing. I have played with it a little and I thought it was promising too.
A very beautiful set, Greg!
