My neighbor has a beehive in the ground inside his water meter enclosure. He called someone and he was complaining about how much they charge so I suggested that he simply take his big Wet or Dry vacuum out their and suck the bees up. So, if he goes for this do you think photos or a video would be better?

You can see the honey and the bee larva better when viewed full size.

If that was me, the video would just be a lot of screaming and running around like a madwoman, lol

That appears to be a fairly established hive. I would say his meter has not been read in a while.
He may check around to see if a local bee keeper would be interested in collecting the hive.
Honey bees are needed in the agricultural world and the use of pesticides is killing them off.

He built on two lots and has 2 water meters but only one is active. Yes, he is checking. A beekeeper can collect the queen put her in a small box and the majority will swarm around her.

Please, do not vacuum the bees up.
The world is desperately short of bees.
Find a bee-keeper they will be glad to remove them.

Vacuuming bees is one way to collect and move the bees. Bees are vacuumed up into a collector with a large shop vac attached. Then the comb is fit into a hive and the bees have a new home.

They will have a good home. My neighbor wants to keep them. He needs another hobby. I wouldn't mind having them either if it wasn't for the initial cost of the hive and equipment. They seem like good bees too, very calm. I can stand 2 - 4 feet from their hive only a couple would even buzz me at a distance.

Notes:

Do not open a hive on a cloudy day. Sunny days don't seem to bother them.

Do not wear wool. Wear cotton or polyester.

Loud noses (lawnmowers etc) will get them very upset.

Good luck,

Jim

Bees are having a hard time. Call a beekeeper. He will keep them rather than vacuum them. He'd be guaranteed to get stung if he tried the vacuum approach.
