I started around 55 years ago. My first camera was a Kodak Instamatic 100. It used 126mm film, fix focal length and shutter speed, and Flash Bulbs. Next came a Pentax 35mm. Followed by a series of Cannon 35mm Cameras such as the A-1 and AE-1. In the past few years, I finally got into the Digital age. I currently use the Cannon T6i.

While I've used Black and white as well as Color Negative film. I preferred using Slides for their durability in storage, etc. Over the years, I learned and self taught myself to develop my own film as well as to print from the slides or negatives. Even dabbled in Kodalith Film (High Contrast), modifying the process to develop slides.

I have been able to visit many places around the world due to the fact I was in the US Army for 20 years. I taken photographs in Germany, New Zealand, Panama, Korea to name a few locations.

I have no specific area of photography I prefer. though I would say I do focus more on the outdoors, nature and wildlife.

I've competed in numerous photography contests that include the US Military Interservice Photography Contest (from local to national level). While I did extremely well, I did earn a 2nd Place and a Honorable Mention at the National Level. In one year alone I awarded enough cash awards to completely recomp my $2000 plus camera collection. However, I would say my proudest win was at the Monterey County California's County Fair. I was awarded a 3rd Place in People. Right after the contest ended, I received a phone call from a lady visiting from Germany asking if I would sell her the photograph. Which I promptly did. So, somewhere in Germany one of my photographs is or was hanging.
