This is the reason I took a two day vacation in Yosemite National Park, May's full moon. Water spray and a 10mph wind to slap you in the face, let alone getting your camera wet. I forgot my rain cover so I used my poncho to cover my camera, call me McGiever. I got the primo spot, well according to what I read and the crowd of photographers who set up so close to me. So here are a couple of my MoonBow Shots submitted for your critique. The first was taken at the left corner of the bridge at Lower Yosemite Falls, the second was taken from Yosemite Meadows on the trail from Sentinel Bridge and Yosemite Falls. ISO 640, F3.5 15 sec exposure.

Very cool!!
Could you actually, see the moonbow?
If you don't mind, what gear were you using?
I've never been around anything like this.

From the Bridge at lower falls you could see a white arch, some people said they saw some colors. I was too busy taking the shot and keeping my camera and lens dry, lots of towels. I used a cover and a poncho. I have a Canon1dx and a 5d MIII, my tripod is a Manfrotto 3011n tripod with 3265head. I bought the dx because of it's ruggedness and the ability to survive in different weather conditions and my abuse. I didn't feel comfortable using my 5d with all the spray coming from the falls. even though I had the proper covering. Some people were using Glad bags. The the second shot was from Yosemite Meadows and you could only see it from your LED of your camera. Something about I eyes having rods and cones and out brains filtering it out. I understand the Moonbow only happens in Yosemite and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. I have heard somewhere in Kentucky, not sure? In Yosemite it happen in April, May and June, sometimes in July and have heard of it as Far as August. University of Texas puts out a chart that tells you the timing and possibility of seeing the MoodBow(lunar rainbow).
That second one is awesome!!!
With all due respect, both images are badly underexposed.
Not an expert at post editing, guess I could push these up a bit. Maybe as the one bossy instructor who was there, said to shoot at ISO 3200. Guess I could push the exposure up a bit, but I don't want to lose my blacks too. You do realize these were night shots?

2 is lovely, I can clearly see the moonbow.
What terrific shots. I specifically like the lunar bow that you captured. I have never heard of this before. Thanks for posting.
Thanks All, your comments were appreciated. Tkva, most people staying at the park had never heard of it either and then others like me who was there for just that. I am glad that I am able to show and the world and share my experiences. Here is another phnomenom of Yosemite National Park, Fire Falls on Horsetail Falls.
As a fellow photographer who also braved the wind and the mist on the Lower Yosemite Falls bridge, the experience was magical. it was nice shooting with you!
That's what made it even more magical, other photographers like you and people who had never seen it to be amazed at the sight, the white arch and then see it through my LED of the cameras. Thank You.

With due respect that classic shot should include the night sky, possibly with stars visible. But kudos for getting it.
