I do a lot of high senior portraits for girls that have horses. At one time (20+ years ago), Douglas County Colorado had the highest per capita horse population in the nation. Anyway, I thought it would be nice to offer a formal - almost fine art - print as well as the usual outdoor-with-the-horse shots. I had one of the young ladies from last summer come in for a practice session. She will get a few free prints. I thought it worked pretty well. I Know she will want the color images because of her GORGEOUS red hair. But I am partial to the monochrome.
Nikon D810, 70-200 at around f/8. Five strobes, one reflector and one flag. Seems like a lot but several strobes have grids to restrict the light to small areas and not all lights were used for all images.

these are wonderful always beautiful work from you
Superb endeavor with illumination especially of those gorgeous auburn tresses...
Your use of Equestrian "Tack" lends an aura of authenticity to this series...
Only suggestion would be to maybe to minimize the use of full on frontal in as this tends not to compliment the feminine physique...
Albeit it worked splendidly in the forth image which is by far the most commercially compelling of the series in as it speaks explicitly to the "Equestrian" nature of this narrative...
Thank you for sharing Cliff...
Fantastic set! The balance in the fourth one is so amazing! They are all nice but that 4th one is just wow!
Oh and only my opinion, but I love the color in this set. Her warm hair and the warm, super rich brown tones in the saddle, bag and box are lost in the black and white and so striking in the color version.
