Next to sea gulls, Canada geese are the easiest flying birds to practice on. First, they make so much noise you have lots of warning they are on the way. Plus they fly straight and fairly slow and they are just a plain big target to keep your focus point on. These were all taken with my D500 and 200-500 lens using continuous Grp focus mode. I love that mode when birds fly in front of busy backgrounds as it stays with whatever is closest.
Since I'm so proud of myself, I decided to try a much tougher target - a barn swallow. If you concentrate enough you can almost make them look like they are sitting still. (It's a joke, moderator so please don't delete my barn swallow pic.)
